Chinese anime feels very challenging to watch for me.

I'm not sure if there's a larger culture of "and the things happened outside the show, fans will know what's up, because they watch more than just the show" or it's just culturally accepted to run a little looser/faster in the content.

There's also strong tendencies to weave in Chinese history and culture plot points or references that just continue to miss me.

BUT - I do enjoy that they tend to go _hard_ on universe building and story intensity. Everything is always epic.

Lord of Mysteries so far is an -amazing- mysticism story with strong Lovecraftian elements. Would love to see more like it. Live action would be absolutely wild.

I'm building something which could uncharitably be described as "an open proxy providing attack amplification as a service", but which I'd rather describe as "a core part of tools like RSS feed readers": ask it to monitor a URL, and it'll check periodically to see if it has changed and tell you so. I'd like to make it a publicly available service so people can more easily build new tools for noticing when web pages change. What are some ways I can encourage good applications and discourage abuse?

edit to add: My progress so far is at github.com/jameysharp/gawkurl/

@Owlor It's interesting because in the *original* form of this track there was no such exploit, because it was only available as part of the "Kill at Will" EP and the label made positive money on the EP overall. But now the modern Internet music store allows you to buy a single song by itself.

It's possible this isn't actually a problem anymore— maybe label consolidation at some point worked things out to bring the sample royalties under 100%. But I kinda suspect just nobody thought about it.

@mcc I gotta say, having the cover art for the EP which contains a track when bought on its own actively loses him money (or did at some point) be Ice Cube handing you a gun with the barrel pointed towards himself is quite a visual.

If it's still a problem, my guess is it just isn't enough of an issue to really make a noticable dent in his revenue, but conceptually it's really funny to have a track where pirating it instead of buying it through legitimate channels is inarguably beneficial to the artist.

It is important to be thankful. This is not an image in and en upon itself.
This photograph was composed from a sample a food that was given to me, because I'm in dire need of assistance, to get projects within my IT Technology fields of expertise.

Due to the horrific situation in my country, the enormous amount of inflation, combined with very questionable political figures ruining the whole economic system and landscape for decades, Many businesses have collapsed, including those that I've given Open Source service and support to for decades.

So when one of those businesses, which luckily does not reside in my country but is remote, has a top level manager who is also friend, decides to jump in and help no questions asked, it is only fair to be thankful.

That energy of gratitude shall be reflected through the Universe to that Friend and everyone else who reads this toot.

The photograph composed in 81A warm light, shows a box of Golden Bridge Choco-Caramel Crisps cereal. The box is predominantly red with a yellow splash indicating "41% Whole Wheat." The brand name "Golden Bridge" is prominently displayed in white text on a yellow background. The product name "Choco-Caramel Crisps" is written in large white and yellow letters. Below the product name, there is a bowl of cereal with milk, showcasing the star-shaped pieces in brown and yellow colors. The text "CRUNCHY, CARAMELLY, CHOCOLATEY, HAPPY" is written around the bowl. The Nutri-Score is shown as "A," indicating a relatively healthy option. The Fairtrade logo is visible in the top right corner. The box is placed on a textured gray fabric surface.

What I'm listening to today: "Jackin for beats", Ice Cube

On this track Ice Cube states an intent to steal every other rapper's beats, then follows through. Despite the claim of "jacking" Cube actually did pay for sample clearance on every beat used here, leading to a situation where 112% of this track's revenue is owed on sample royalties. If you buy this track on Apple Music, Ice Cube loses money
