If you've been as enthralled w/ the Louvre heist story as I have, you might be interested to learn this:

"According to the newspaper Libération , documents from a 2014 inspection by the French National Agency for Information Systems Security reported a disconcerting detail: the password for the Louvre's video surveillance server was simply "Louvre."

A gentle reminder: much like tech support, moderation is most visible when something goes wrong.

The vast majority of moderation work - unseen, unpaid, and often unacknowledged - quietly contributes to a safer, more welcoming experience for everyone.

There is no justification for careless or irresponsible moderation. At the same time, it is important to recognise that this network is sustained by thousands of volunteers who prevent the most harmful content from ever reaching you.

cont'd

Fediverse admin, moderator and community manager efforts resolve the overwhelming majority of issues before most are even aware of them.

Let's hold moderation to high standards, while also extending the respect and support these volunteers deserve.

Send your mod team some love today. They’ve earned it.

It’s truly tragic how many of these US war criminals like Cheney never face justice and die in their peacefully in their homes in their 80s and 90s. I want to be happy he is dead but I am not. The million people he killed didnt get the luxury to die how he did.

Hey all, this @ThePSFPython Software Foundation blog post is special, it connects the dots, on where the PSF is financially, and how we’ll sustain it to serve its mission in the future. This transparency is key and an invitation to build together.

You all know that Python became the connective tissue of modern computing because of everyone (maintainers, educators, library/tools authors, companies, user groups and conferences, you!) invested time into the Python community.

pyfound.blogspot.com/2025/10/c (1/2)

Among them, the tiny but mighty PSF team. Now’s the time to invest to enable the PSF to continue its mission.

So if your org runs on Python, please consider sponsoring the PSF: python.org/psf/sponsorship/

If Python shaped your career, consider becoming a Supporting Member: python.org/psf/membership/supp

And never hesitate to share your “why” via social media, how Python helped you, spread the word.

I’m in. Join me!
