What is Hackers' Pub?

Hackers' Pub is a place for software engineers to share their knowledge and experience with each other. It's also an ActivityPub-enabled social network, so you can follow your favorite hackers in the fediverse and get their latest posts in your feed.

I know this is a funny joke, and for a long time I scornfully saw e-bikes as "cheating", but honestly I think they've been a great thing for a lot of people. I'll reply with things that we can thank e-bikes (and even those infernal scooters) for:

The EU has let US tech giants run riot. Diluting our data law will only entrench their power theguardian.com/commentisfree/ "Europe is hurtling toward digital vassalage… Enforcing Europe’s data rules would not only protect our democracies and children from nasty algorithms, it would also disrupt big tech’s cascading monopolies across Europe. Crucially for Europe’s competitiveness, this is what would create the space for European tech SMEs and startups to scale up everywhere in Europe."

Poll about lunchtime and clock time change:

When going for example from Summer time to the regular time, do you eat at the same “real” time (e.g. at 13:00 during Summer time and 12:00 in regular time) or do you eat later/sooner?

Reading Devon Price's excellent "Laziness Does Not Exist" (What, *two* books in a month...? In this spoon economy?) and one paragraph hit me hard:

"I spoke with several mental-health professionals who regularly treat clients for activism fatigue, and their overall advice was this: prioritize causes that genuinely inspire you, set realistic goals for your activism, and work to accept that there are certain problems you cannot fix, no matter how hard you try."
