Last week in a seminar we discussed a text that was largely about sexual violence, including mass rape during war. Heavy stuff.
One student admitted they had not read the text but worked off a ChatGPT summary.
They had no idea the text was about sexual violence. ChatGPT withheld that information.
This wasn’t just a minor error nor a typical LLM hallucination.
About a third of the text, arguably its most important part, went completely ignored because it didn’t match OpenAI’s content policies
Great to see campaigners against TikTok toxicity. However, Tiktok are unlikely to address campaigners demands, when it is against Tiktok's whole business model to de-toxify.

atan is the same thing as the inverse tan.
the "arc tangent" terminology comes from geometry: what is the arc (angle) that produces a given ratio.
(for a unit circle, the length of the arc is equal to the angle)
atan2 is a better atan that handles divide by 0 and also knows which quadrant we're in by taking in the projections instead of the ratio.
tldr - atan2(y, x) for when we need to know the angle cast by a vector projections y and x
you could also formalize bubble beefs, as in “marking belonging to this bubble automatically blocks this other bubble”. sort of like mastodon instances defederating — but “soft” in the sense that you can always change allegiance or quit those bubbles and rawdog the social experience

NGL, despite living in Northern Canada, and despite most of my camera work being outdoors, winter's not my favourite season--photographically or otherwise. So dark. So cold. So many layers of clothing!
Still, I continue to try and find the beauty in all seasons, and step outside my comfort zone. I will never call myself a "cold-weather photographer," but photos like this remind me that it's worth it sometimes to bundle up and get outside!
