This is an intriguing panel discussion from FediCon, published on the @decenteredDecentered Podcast podcast;

Some very challenging comments made, including "open source is dead". I just wish the host had asked the guests to explain exactly what they meant by comments like that, before moving along to the next topic.

😻 Seeking Coffee & Community
(Paws are crossed. This took me forever to type.)

I have to confess, I'm running on maybe 10% battery life right now, and 90% desire for good coffee and cuddles. ☕️

It's nearly the Solstice, and my internal energy system is frankly demanding belonging. We all feel that tug! This isn't just cuffing season for humans—it's prime time for Community Cuddles and collective warmth.

So, come join me (and the 3 other cohosts of FediCollective) for some intentional brewing and building. We promise you:

+No Force: Just genuine presence; no performance required

+Healing Architecture: A cozy space designed specifically for care, not grind culture

+Good Coffee: without it, let's be honest, the whole system collapses

Let's find our belonging together. I’ll bring the cuteness, you bring the wisdom.

See you in the Third Space! 🐾

A charming photograph of an orange ginger tabby kitten standing upright on its hind legs, holding a tiny black coffee mug with both paws. The kitten has a thoughtful expression. Above its head, a white thought bubble reads: "Me, looking for coffee & #community." The background is a cozy living room with a Christmas tree decorated with blurred lights. You can see a black board sign saying FediCollective behind the kitty.

Diet, Drugs, and Dopamine by David A. Kessler, 2025

The New Science of Achieving a Healthy Weight

Almost one in three Australians struggles with obesity and its related health conditions, including heart disease and diabetes. It affects life expectancy and quality of life, and yet for decades medical bias and societal pressure have left many feeling judged, confused and often left behind.

Now former US Food and Drug Administration commissioner David A. Kessler urges us to see obesity in a new light. He explains how processed food has changed our brain chemistry, creating both an addiction to highly rewarding foods and compulsive cravings that cause us to eat more. But this change doesn't have to be permanent. Illuminating cutting-edge research on the many factors that influence weight—from neuroscience to nutrition—Diet, Drugs, and Dopamine outlines what we can learn from addiction science to change our relationship with food and free ourselves from the lifelong battle.
Kessler offers a clear-eyed view of the recent, much-publicised medications...
