Pete Hegseth and Donald Trump ordered the murder of over 80 sailors, ostensibly because they might have been trafficking drugs to somewhere. Donald Trump also pardoned a guy who trafficked enormous volumes of cocaine into the US. None of this is about drugs, drug use, or safety of Americans.
