Huh.

Today we're going to build an advent wreath (Adventskranz), so I went to Wikipedia to look it up and check that I was right that it was invented here in Hamburg.

Well I followed the name of the founder of the mission school who came up with it, and from his article to the German revolutions of 1848-9.

I hadn't known about these, and they ended with a lot of liberal Germans (and people from some surrounding countries) fleeing persecution, becoming known as the 48ers.
