like. I can get the basics to work. I have stable artifact colors. Light+dark stripes produce saturated solid colors. Except… those colors don't match the videos at all

Here's our reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHfC0gwkW4k. The first tower (Tower of Eyes, 0:49) is dull grey + blue platforms. The second one (Realm of Robots, 3:10) is bright orange+pink/purple platforms. The fifth one (Broken Path, 6:53) is bright green + magenta platforms.

Note that the submarine sections before the towers do indeed depict orange/green tower there, and the game is using 160 mode there, so that's not artifacting but an explicitly set color.

Good, now we established how it should look like.
