Truly shocking NBN installation today at the Scout Hall.

Guy draped the cable on the neighbour's roof, and lied to my face about there being clearance. Had to get him back on the ladder to at least get 30cm or so clearance between the cable and their roof.

Also only finished at ~ 15:00, after turning up at 12:30 for an 08:00 - 12:00 window, and then having to leave immediately to get more equipment because it's a tricky job. Which, of course, I warned the ISP about up-front.

However! We finally have the ability to make and receive calls reliably at the hall \o/

How I know #Codeberg is a public good

I know this because they are constantly under attack by fascist script kiddies who are regularly flooding them with spam, and periodically launching DDoS attacks against them. Only someone doing a truly useful and ethical public service could evoke such extreme hatred of the worlds most evil people.

The Codeberg admins deleted these spam posts within an hour of them being posted and deleted the accounts that generated them. They are doing a fantastic job, and I thank them for their dedication and hard work.

A spam message posted as an issue on one of my Codeberg projects. It is rife with emojis and very generic criticism about specific files in the project. The issue is also helpfully titled "NI***R BALLS" which make it easier to spot and delete.A spam message posted as an issue on one of my Codeberg projects. Apparently Leiden and 4 other Dutch universities are completely cutting their English-language psychology bachelor programs?! This sounds really worrying, especially as the purported "internationalisering in balans" law has not yet even passed. Consider this as another reminder to not comply in advance. And also to stand in solidarity with all academic disciplines.

XDrz)

For the last two years I've been semi-daily posting "What I'm Listening to Today" links here. Mastodon has some problems with threads containing hundreds of posts, so I re-create the thread once a year.

If you'd like to see, here's my "year two" thread: mastodon.social/@mcc/110266770

Or, alternately, every song from year two in the least practical format possible: A 301-song, 38-hour YouTube playlist (note: video #1 contains flashing):

And here's the thread for "year three":

There's a lot that could still be improved in , but I don't get that "proof of work" idea out of my mind, so I started a branch to work on it:

github.com/Zirias/swad/pull/1

I really think it makes sense when you want some publicly known "guest login" which is still protected against . Not sure yet whether this will succeed, we will see!

It certainly won't be as "fancy" as , but do the same thing functionally: Require the client to find a that, combined with a server-provided , hashes to something with 'n' leading zeros using . In contrast to anubis, swad won't have to proxy everything (but rely on nginx' auth_request), and no challenge will be issued when the user logs in with credentials some *other* credentials checker accepts.
