I prefer (for my own computer) taking snapshots manually, just before any possibly-catastrophic operations, if I'm NOT forgotton.😅
SSDs on notebooks are small (unlike spinning rusts on servers), and snapshots of ZFS includes (as written by @stefanoStefano Marinelli) full delta including actual data between previous and just taken snapshot, not only metadata, thus, easily become too large to hold plenty of snapshots. But on hazards, it's quite helpful!😉
