Two RFCs have finished FCP, so in the near future you'll be able to have attribute & derive macros that are declarative (i.e. not proc macros).

Thanks @joshJosh Triplett for writing these up. Looking forward to RFC 3714, which will render many proc macros obsolete.

I think @grimalkinaCat Hicks has basically covered the most important problems with the "your brain on LLMs paper," but since the meaningless of "functional connectivity" analyses is one of my least favorite things in neuroscience, i wanted to get a few dunks in too.

These analyses have so many degrees of freedom, and there are so many possible interpretations that they are effectively "choose your own adventure" analyses - you can pick whatever sets of pairwise measurements you want and write whatever you want about them.

Horseshoe crabs (order Xiphosura, "sword-tail"), which date back at least 450 million years, are older than:

- crabs* (~200 million years ago)
- horses (~50 mya, tops)
- horseshoes (~1000 years ago, tops)
- swords (the _xiphos_ is Iron Age; ~1200 ya)

Not tails though.

* that's right, horseshoe crabs are not crabs. They are more closely related to arachnids and, according to some recent work, may even be more closely related to some arachnids than some arachnids are to each other, which you could think of as "horseshoe crabs are arachnids" but which really means "the group 'arachnids' isn't a true group and we need to make a new category." However, other work supports the traditional "family tree" with them solidly outside arachnids. At any rate, they are in the branch of arthropods called Chelicerata (also including arachnids and sea spiders) rather than Mandibulata (crustaceans, insects, etc.; all the other arthropods.)

I think shifting the burden of implementation complexity from a relatively small set of skilled driver developers to everyone else was a bad idea.

AIが画像の説明を（代理で）書くっていうのは悪くない方向性だと思うけど、そのままじゃなくて、画像の投稿者が軽くチェックして、訂正を入れられた方がいいね。

『大理石の床の上にある〜』とAIに説明されたときに、「それ床じゃなくてテーブル」って直せた方がいい。

もちろん自分で書ける・書きたい場合、必ずAIを使う必要はないけど、

それでも、代替テキストに対して専門性を持ったAIが手本を提示すれば、平均的な質の向上が期待できるという面もある。

適切な代替テキスト、ある程度慣れ・訓練が必要なもので、難しいからね。
