Hackers' Pub is a place for software engineers to share their knowledge and experience with each other. It's also an ActivityPub-enabled social network, so you can follow your favorite hackers in the fediverse and get their latest posts in your feed.

Too late to do anything about it now, I guess, but when I remember that there was a fork in the road where one sign said "it's bad if one program window can see what some other program window is doing" and the other said "Blind people should be able to use their own computers", and the Wayland people picked graphic-layer IPC security over humans and I get very sad about it.

I hear it's getting slightly better now, a decade of heroic efforts fighting the architecture at every step later.

Does anyone have any recommendations for how to use/browse Mastodon? I use mastodon.social still but it's extremely slow and unwieldy and it puts me off ever logging in. What do people use for web and for mobile?

마이크로소프트 소속 개발자들이 뭘 하든 이게 경영진의 의도이다.

I read your article about your initiative for new licenses for dataset holders in the AI industry.

Let’s be clear: I do not want to re-license my hundreds of CC-By comic pages to please AI giants.

I wish you would support CC artists suffering from massive plagiarism. You should enforce your own existing licenses against AI mass crawling. It seems you’ve joined the battle only after the casualties and still managed to side with the wrong people.

Is it paranoid to not want to use Amazon for any/every thing?

My work colleague recommended some drink supplements and said it was available on Amazon. I said I'd rather not use Amazon, but I'd look for them elsewhere.

"Lol, what's wrong with Amazon now?"
"Other than their questionable hiring policies and environmental impact, I'd rather not find Bezos"
"God, you're so paranoid!"

I know I'm the resident kook who doesn't support big business (where I can), but how does this make me paranoid?
