子供のころ、なんであんな戦争やったんやろ、って思ってたけど。
ていうか自衛隊の文民統制が消えつつある、ってどんな話？怖いな

思えば94年前、私たち日本人はこうして満州事変に突き進んだのだろう。そこから日中戦争を経て太平洋戦争に至るまで、世界恐慌下の国際情勢を正確に読み取り、自国の国力や戦力を慎重に秤（はかり）にかけ、出口戦略を含めた周到な見通しを立てていたなら、もとより侵略戦争などできるはずがなかった。合理的な計算をあえて退けた軍部の暴走を許したのは、同じく合理的な計算より感情で動いた私たち国民である。
そうして誰も計画のいい加減さを見ず、根拠のない希望的観測と勇ましい精神論を頼りに一億が火の玉になって破滅を迎えたとき、私たちはどこで道を誤ったのか振り返ることもせず、すべての経緯をあっさり水に流した。そしてA級戦犯容疑者の一部は堂々と政治に返り咲き、国民は昭和天皇の行幸を熱狂で迎え、まるで何もなかったかのように「戦後」が始まって、80年が流れた。
2025年の夏、21世紀初頭まであった国際秩序はもうない。いまや自国第一主義を掲げて専横を極めるアメリカと、他国への武力侵攻を狙う覇権国家の中国とロシアが世界をそれぞれの勢力圏に分割する勢いである。
国連は機能せず、ウクライナやガザの人道危機は放置され、イスラエルは当然の権利のようにイランの殲滅（せんめつ）を図る。一方、アメリカの核の傘にすがるほかないEUや日本は、アメリカに要求されるままに身の丈を超えた軍備増強にひた走り、気がつけば日本は台湾防衛の最前線に立たされている。
その実、当の日本では過去の戦争は完全に遠くなり、6月22日付で朝日新聞朝刊の『フロントライン』が伝えたように自衛隊の文民統制が消えつつあるほか、核保有や核共有を公然と口にする政治家もいる。現行憲法下での戦後の歩みも、有事となったときに何が起こるかについての冷静な読みもない令和の日本人は、やはり三つ子の魂百までか。

「日本人ファースト」を標榜する参政党。その実態は「参政党の方針に賛同しない者を全て排斥する全体主義思想」である。実際、参政党の方針に異を唱えると、忽ち支持者達が「お前日本人じゃないだろ」とリプライしてきたりする。「日本人ファースト」の名の下に参政党の意に沿わない存在を「非国民」扱いして排除するわけである。
「参政党を批判するのはだいたい純粋な日本人ではない」とまで言い出す参政党支持者もいるが、「日本人」の要件が「参政党を批判しないこと」であるとすれば「日本人」には自由意思が存在しないことになる。
結局、参政党が言う「日本人」とは「自由意思と人権を放棄した者」というわけである。

This is Canuck the crow, from Canada. He once stole a knife from a crime scene. Literally. But while this is the photo used in those stories, it’s not that knife. Shawn snapped this photo a year earlier when Canuck randomly showed up with it in his yard.
Canuck’s story is interesting. It made me love crows more than I already did. (BTW, he went missing in 2019, but his story lives on.)
