MapLibre Native, literally used by millions and millions of users every day: 1.4k stars in 5 years.

OpenCut, a landing page for some AI video editing app (nobody knows if it is even a real thing, absolutely no indication that it is): 20k stars in 3 days.

Lessons:
1. stars don't tell you much (or anything) about usage.
2. Hire a marketeer.

Enjoyed the preface from this book "Application Development Without Programmers" from 1982

> Applications development did not change much for 20 years, but now a new wave is crashing in. A rich diversity of nonprocedural techniques and languages are emerging. As these languages improve, they promise to change the entire fabric of DP development. [...]

there is nothing to describe the hot feeling of hatred i am feeling right now towards the fact that the thing I was trying to fix in rvkms before getting back to work on other stuff now has me against a "apparently i64 division is not actually a given in kernel context" rabbit hole which i'm really deeply uninterested in dealing with and frankly i shouldn't have to.

What does it say in the image?

It says 'minimum'.

Hard to read? Medieval scribes thought so too.

That's why they invented the dot on the i.

This way, you could at least see which strokes represented vowels - and that helped a lot.

For similar reasons, the letter j was invented.

I think it's finally my turn to , especially my German friends.

There's a very high chance (it's almost certain at this point) that I'll have to move to Germany by the end of the year for work. The time has come for me to start looking for an accommodation, but I don't even know where to start.
The job would be in the whereabouts of Düsseldorf, and I would like to find a medium-small apartment there, possibly not too far from the city center.

Can you give me some pointers please? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Boosts appreciated.

I've thinking about this a lot the last few days.

I present gender neutral, for the most part.

Possibly more on the masc side, but as women have been wearing trousers for almost a century now, and we arguably have a much broader range of clothes and ways to wear them, before we appear not-quite cis hetero any more, it's all just been 🤷 to me.

I'm comfortably cis female. But I just can't be bothered with a lot of the presentational norms of femininity.

Happy NB day!

Ex-farm worker here.

We need to talk about this whole "But a living wage for farm workers would spike the cost of food!" thing.

Not true AT ALL.

Y'all don't understand how fast experienced farm workers are.

The average tomato picker pulls 650lbs per hour.

At $20/hr, that's $0.03/lb for labor.
