왜 하필 대학생 때 우울증이 가장 심했나 생각해 보면
아무래도 내 욕망을 실현할 수 있을 거라는 허상 속에 나 자신을 밀어붙여서 그랬지 않았나 싶다.

욕망은 자고로 버릴수록 자유로워지는 게 분명한데도
처음엔 다 그렇게 잡을 수 없는 것을 잡기 위해 뭐든지 한다.

다행히도 나는 그 대상이 내 명예욕이었어서, 결혼에 대한 환상이나 그런 건 아니어서 참 다행이라고 생각한다.

가족에 대한 욕망이 생기면 작은 사회 공동체가 악으로 물든다.
가장 사랑하는 사람에게 그 꼴을 다 겪게 만든다.
평생 속죄하며 살아야 한다.
