I'm trying to come up with a way for streamer folks (technical enough to set up OBS, but no further) to have a publicly accessible hosted HTML page automatically updated from a desktop application, without it costing them anything and without me having to build and host something with accounts and stuff.

so far my best idea is "get them to set up a GitHub Pages repo and then have the app commit + push each data change" which is kinda complicated for them and not great.

anyone got ideas?

Less than 6% of users that signed up for CoSocial ended up leaving. That’s an amazing retention rate!

For the most part, artists don’t necessarily want shiny, elaborate features. They mainly want to sell their art, and have ways to help people find that stuff.

The Fediverse is largely predicated on free, unpaid labor, with a sprinkling of donations keeping things afloat. We should be able to have entire careers in this space, building this amazing thing: IT workers, developers, designers, artists, writers, musicians, you name it!

At #FediCon, there’s clear acknowledgment that the #Fediverse needs funding.

But also: developers, admins, mods, and creatives should be compensated for their work.

The network does not just need technologists. It needs artists, musicians, writers, journalists, and all kinds of other creatives.

Google+ had a number of issues, but for the most part, it didn’t have a killer feature. A 1:1 feature recreation of another service is not itself a compelling thing to get users to switch.

In the grand scheme of things, the Fediverse is still very, very small. We’re at the early peak of the “Innovators” section of the Technology Adoption Life Cycle.

Threads and Bluesky absolutely crush us in terms of user numbers, and they themselves are only tiny slices compared to even bigger platforms.
