Tomorrow's bike club ride¹ that I might go on² is okay, although I'm not entirely enthused, but it's bookended by ~20km of pain in the rear riding each way. This is me vacillating.

(Some people like long runs on two-lane country roads, which this ride features. I am not entirely a fan. Farmland is farmland after a while, and it becomes a slog.)

What I'm listening to today: "Speciation", Passepartout Duo

An old technique in ambient music is "phasing", where you play two loops of different lengths and let them go in and out of sync, creating different interesting patterns. It's a truism this requires electronics or tape, because two humans trying to play out-of-sync tempos would confuse each other. These two seem to be actually doing a live phase performance, dueling xylophone and gameboy-style squarewave loops

I've been trying to design a new federated chat protocol, Chatterbox, that improves on Matrix and XMPP and is simpler to use and implement than either.

But, after a lot of work designing a WebSocket+Protobuf API, I've had to ask myself... why isn't this just REST?

I really don't want to make it just a plain old boring REST API, but if I want this to be easy to understand and implement, it seems like the obvious choice. Am I just overcomplicating it?

이러니까 유럽 소재 과학자나 엔지니어들이 다른 회사나 국가로 대탈주(?)를 시작함 이게 너무 숫자가 눈에 크게 보일 정도로 일어나서 웃프던데 근데도 위기 의식 없ㅋ음ㅋ 이번에 독일 본사에 있던분이 여기 지사로 2년간 올거에요 해서 아니 왜죠? 트럼프 시대에 공화당분들이 설치는 미국으로 온다고...? 했는데 이해가 되었음... 아마 그 분은 적당히 그러다가 다른 회사로 이직하겠구나 싶긴했음 이미 수많은 분들이 그렇게 나가긴했다...;
