Four months ago, the CEO of Fiverr sent out an email to its staff with the stark message "AI is coming for your jobs."

Today the other shoe dropped as the company is laying 250 employees (30% of workers) as part of a pivot into becoming "an AI-first company with a smaller team, greater productivity and fewer management layers."

Freelance platforms like Fiverr and Upwork have been hardest hit by the rise of AI tools including agents.

The cuts, which will affect 250 employees, are a part of a restructuring plan announced by Fiverr's CEO Micha Kaufman geared towards investing heavily in AI and incorporating the technology into the company's platform. "We are launching a transformation for Fiverr, to turn Fiverr into an AI-first company that's leaner, faster, with a modern AI-focused tech infrastructure, a smaller team, each with substantially greater productivity, and far fewer management layers," Kaufman said in a letter to employees. While it isn't clear what kinds of jobs will be impacted, Fiverr operates a self-service digital marketplace where freelancers can connect with businesses or individuals requiring digital services like graphic design, editing or programming.

グラントの申請書を受け取ってもらうためのお願いレターを書いた。米国の作法はいまだによくわからんのよねー。スクリーニングする側としてはたしかに二段階のほうがラクだわな。

トランプのせいで、米国の民間の助成金団体には、申請殺到中だそうである。なので、ダメ元的な気分であるが、みんなで「やろう」と決断したのでやるのである。

ところで日本、チャンスじゃん。なんかしないのかね。いまこそ全世界の科学コミュニティーで目立つチャンスである。

To any other people blessed with a big bum and comparatively small waist (in the opinion of the clothing industry, anyway), I've found a way to help stop your trousers from falling down.

Yes, one can wear a belt, but there are never quite enough belt loops, leaving you with a belt against your skin and the trouser waistband bulging out on one or both sides at the back, instead of being kept in.

Anyway, yeah. Add an extra button, an inch or so further in-band from the original button. Ta-da!

A photo of my jeans with the top button undone. A second button has been added a couple of centimetres towards the first belt loop.A wider shot of me with the jeans closed on the tighter button. The jeans are button-fly and relatively loosely cut, making it less obvious that this was not the original button.
