Yes, yes. I know, we shitpost about the year of the Linux desktop, but think about it:
These fuckers are so insistent about "Run what we tell you to run, and only run that" but also are extremely insistent on shoving AI into every fucking nook and cranny of their operating system. And if they aren't doing that, they're doing their level best to store your shit "in the cloud" in one of their datacenters, in all likelihood training an LLM on whatever shit you're uploading or creating.
Linux is winning by doing nothing. Well, not nothing in the literal sense, but by being fucking quietly competent. Hardware support is expanding, shit like proton is happening.
Consider that there are a nonzero number of people staring down October 14th next month, being told to upgrade to Windows or ELSE, and laughing as they flash a debian ISO to whatever USB drive is nearby.
Not perfect, but better by a long shot.
