Ihr könnt ruhig den ganzen Tag den leeren Teller anstarren, wenn ihr euch damit besser fühlt.

Ich ess dann solange meine Kartoffelteddys mit Gurkensalat und dazu Bratwurst (!) ohne Tiervernutzung. Und solange ihr immer noch selbige auf euren 'chemiefreien' Teller packt, habt ihr zu meinem keine Meinung zu haben.

Ein grüner runder Teller, links oben rahmiger Gurkensalat, rechts 6 Kartoffelprodukte in Bärchenkopfform, unten 2 verschiedene Bratwürste. Oben am Rand zwischen Salat und Bärchen liegen noch schwarze Oliven und eingelegte Paprikastückchen

I was recently looking at Framework for a new x86 laptop, as I believed the company to be reasonably aligned with my values (e.g. pro-repair, pro-FOSS, pro-humanity). But others have warned me that they are now supporting Hyprland, Omarchy, etc. They support these projects led by people who hold alt-right views, in the name of building a “big tent” coalition.

The problem, however, is that building a “big tent” coalition, by design, requires some form of value alignment.

Alpine is a “big tent”, for example, but people who want to harm members of our community aren’t welcome.

This isn’t hard.

Needless to say, I won’t be buying a Framework laptop anytime soon, which makes me sad.

We don’t partner based on individuals’ or organizations’ beliefs, values, or political stances outside of their alignment with us on increasing the adoption of open source software. Reading about Tangled, a federated git collaboration thingy…

It all sounds great. Certainly better than the whatever it is that MicroHub has become.

But I’m really sceptical that recreating the totally open contribution model is the way forward, no matter the governance model. I read “social and fun” and think they’ve not been paying attention.
