The 2026 DSF Board elections are running right now — if you’re a DSF member, please check your inbox for a ballot. I’m prioritizing four things on my ballot:

1. Fundraising experience
2. Community management experience, particularly with the DSF (working groups, etc.)
3. A clear vision and specific goals for the DSF
4. Global and industry diversity

Here we are again: stunned, floored, full of hope, because of you–each of you wonderful humans in the community. Since we shared the news about our withdrawal from the NSF grant opportunity two weeks ago, we have received over $160,000 in donations across nearly 2000 donors, which includes 313 new Members–WOW!

We need to oppose the European Commission's digital omnibus disaster! We need to oppose it loudly and immediately!

Not only is the leaked proposal an outright attack on our digital privacy rights. The Commission would also set whatever will be left of the GDPR up to fail eventually.

@noybeu has summarized why an how the digital omnibus will harm people, you can read their article here: noyb.eu/en/eu-commission-about

Hey everyone. Was just laid off & am now looking for my next role.

I'm seeking Eng Manager or Sr. Manager positions that are fully remote at established companies (50-500 people) with strong remote cultures. US-based will be easier.

I love building high-performing teams and helping engineers grow their skills.

I've got a career search brief with more about what I'm looking for and my details: docs.google.com/document/d/1M8

Thanks for any leads or connections you might have!

one thing i feel that is really needed is a kind of editor / AI tool which allows you to incrementally make and explore queries of a codebase. For example, I could totally imagine using these AI tools to do code search across codebases--but I have tried them and they are horrible at this generally, maybe some RAG approaches are better? but i haven't seen these too much, presumably someone has done it

RE: scicomm.xyz/@HelenBranswell/11

Over the last few months, a bunch of promising leads haven't worked out. These things can take months, so who knows? But in the meantime, I have room for more work.

I help teams adopt Swift 6/Concurrency with confidence and success. You can find more info about me and what I do here:
