Good morning Fediverse. It's a blue sky day!!

Waking up and reading stuff — that mentions "open social" and if rss is sufficient — I had a thought: That's the perfect example. Is RSS open social?: Don't care. Open social is a weird concept anyway. Basically, nowadays whenever I see the prefix open, it's mostly something I disagree with.

So I'm delighted to introduce: Accessible Social. This means that it's easy to participate. You can just boot up your local node, and be a full member.

Example due to the current state of federated forums: Discourse is not an accessible federated forum. I cannot create a topic from my own node. However, lemmy, nodebb, and piefed are.

SPECmail2001 was a benchmark for enterprise email servers. When we started to run it at Apple (around 2006?), the distribution of email attachments seemed really odd. Eventually we figured out that the types and sizes of attachments were derived from analyzing Sun's internal email servers circa 2000. That explained all the large plain text attachments: patch files.

To prioritize the safety and security of the ecosystem, Kubernetes SIG Network and the Security Response Committee are announcing the upcoming retirement of Ingress NGINX. Best-effort maintenance will continue until March 2026. Afterward, there will be no further releases, no bugfixes, and no updates to resolve any security vulnerabilities that may be discovered.
