What is Hackers' Pub?

Hackers' Pub is a place for software engineers to share their knowledge and experience with each other. It's also an ActivityPub-enabled social network, so you can follow your favorite hackers in the fediverse and get their latest posts in your feed.

Many software engineering leaders have poorly formed mental models for their work.

Mental models are metaphors for how something works, a simplification of the thing to make it easier to understand it. A few examples from physics would be things like:
- electricity "flows"
- gravity "pulls"

These mental models aren't strictly accurate. So you must be careful when building upon them.

The poem is an egg.
You can hard-boil this poem or you can grow it.
This poem is a virus.
You can kill this poem or you can spread it.
This poem is a tardigrade.
You can send this poem into space and it will survive.
This poem is xocolatl.
You can drink this poem.
This poem has loved you since the day you were born.
This poem hates your enemies.
This poem knows your fears.
This poem has the same fears.
This poem is fear.
This poem is vengeance.
Do not fear this poem.
Love this poem.
Hate this poem.
This poem can be everything you need it to be.
But only if you keep this poem going.
Because this poem is you, too.

It's almost Throwback Thursday in Asia, so here goes.... I have probably listened to this album a hundred times by now. It marks the "growing up" of girl group Perfume with a harder edge sound, and many songs I have cried to over the years (Love the World, Dream Fighter, and One Room Disco were songs I listened to a lot in the early days of my long-distance relationship). This album will always have a special place in my heart.

Hello people interested in a decentralised Fediverse, would like some feedback on something 🙏

At the moment, Fedi.Garden only lists Fediverse servers with fewer than 50,000 registered members. I am wondering if this limit should be replaced by a limit based on active members rather than registered members?

If a server has had a lot of signups in the past but not many active now, it is perhaps unfairly shut out of Fedi.Garden even though it now needs help getting noticed?

Any thoughts?
