RE: mastodon.social/@Signez/115575

This code in CloudFlare should have followed the same standards you would for things like kernel code, and that means no unwrap() allowed unless you can prove the bad condition never happens (like unsafe code requires a comment proving safety).

Memory safety is half the battle. The other half is panic safety, but you need to opt into that one (there are several ways depending on how strict you want to be).

Look guys I know this seems bad but I think it's important to keep things in perspective. Yes, we are now at the point where a random drunken middle aged man with an ICE badge can follow your daughter into the women's bathroom at a fucking Denny's or whatever and wave his loaded gun in her face for no reason. But on the other hand, two trans volleyball players won't be able to play volleyball with their friends. TWO. In the entire country.

So, you know. Totally worth it. Right?

@k3ym0k3ym𖺀 Here's an alt-text description of the image:

The image is a cartoon-style illustration depicting a complex stack of blocks representing modern digital infrastructure. At the base of the stack is a rectangular block labeled "Linux Foundation", above it is a block labeled "Cloudflare", and above that is a block labeled "AWS". A tall, unstable tower of grey blocks rises above these foundations, representing “All Modern Digital Infrastructure”. Extending horizontally from the middle of this tower is a robotic arm labeled "AI", connected to a set of gears. A small red bird is positioned to the right of the tower with the text “Whatever Microsoft is doing” next to it, and a green, water-like texture is visible on the right side of the image, with the text "DNS" beside it. A line originating from the robotic arm points towards the DNS texture.

Home from the hospital.

They couldn't do the surgery yesterday.

Nearly died. My heart rate dropped dramatically.

Once they stabilized me, they took me back to the room to recover.

I'll be meeting with cardiology soon. Heart disease runs in our family. I had a mild heart attack 5 years ago.

The goal for now is to get healthy enough to try again in 6 months to remove the tumor.

Glad to be alive. 🙏🙏🙏
