Community mention spam from Microblogs

So, this meme.

tl;dr Mastodon users occasionally spam mentions and Lemmy (and probably Piefed) ingests them all and makes the post across all of the mentioned communities.

Sucks, right, because on the theadiverse, you're not actually able to do that so easily.

Basically, it's because Mastodon mixes mentions with addressing. Every mentioned person gets addressed, even though sometimes you don't mean for it to go into that community.

I don't disagree with the dissatisfaction with Mozilla's AI shit, but in 2025, they won't see a penny of investor money without an AI pitch. The AI shit isn't for end users (who hate it), it's for the investor classes.

I don't trust syncthing-fork anymore.

1. App ID changed with version 2.x, seemingly for no reason.

2. catfriend1, the original maintainer has disappeared with no public announcement.

3. Apparently the Play signing keys were transferred to a Github user with a 5 day old account.

4. The old repo does redirect to this new user's repo.

It could be benign and another case of FOSS devs "moving on," quietly. But my paranoia prevails.
