That OCaml PR is textbook open source in the era of vibe coding...
It's got everything:
- PR submitted without the author acknowledging they didn't write it and don't understand it.
- Copyright laundering.
- "I just wanted to get it done!" versus maintainers who know they have to live with code contributions for years.
- Zero-effort pasting LLM output as reply to real people's thoughtful questions. (At least the author acknowledged what they were doing that time.)
- It doesn't matter that it's hard to review because "AI has a very deep understanding of how this code works."
- "Beats me. AI decided to do so and I didn't question it."
If this is our new world then it's going to turbocharge maintainer burnout.

I knit up a test swatch of the bitwise fractal pattern to see how it reads as knitwear. Pretty good, I think! Now I have to decide if I really want to commit to a full blanket. I've never done one, so it's tempting. But that's a LOT of work.
I was curious about the parameter space for the bitwise fractal function, so I bashed out a quick animation script. I'm varying the x offset parameter, which was -350 in the original, but I've found thing stay more interesting in this 400x400 window if I keep that even larger, so here it is running from -600 to -400.
I think this might be what looking at the brain hacking QR code in Snow Crash might have felt like.

『치팅 컬처』는 『속국 민주주의론』에 이어 읽는 빌린책챌린지 책입니다. 미국에 만연한 속임수 문화를 진단, 비판하고 대안을 제시하는 책입니다. 기업, 스포츠, 진학 등 돈과 명예가 걸린 분야에서부터 탈세, 유선망 도둑질, 음반 불법 다운로드 등 계급과 상관없이 일어나는 도둑질까지 많은 비윤리적 행위를 가능하게 만드는 무형의 정신을 '속임수 문화'로 지칭하는 것이죠.
읽으면서 여러 생각이 들었습니다. 『의혹을 팝니다』와 『진실을 배반한 과학자들』에서는 이익에 근거하여 과학적 합의, 즉 지식을 왜곡하는 사람들에 대한 고발을 봤지요. 이 책은 이익이 도덕적 합의를 왜곡하는 현상에 대한 고발이라 할 수 있을 것 같습니다. 사람들이 모여서 어떤 결정을 내릴 때에는 어떤 기준이 있지만, 그 기준이 날이 갈수록 성공과 부, 성과와 자본 논리로 쏠리는 것에 대한 경고라고 할 수 있겠지요.
한편 냅스터로 대표되는(국내로 치자면 '소리바다'라고 할 수 있겠죠) 음원의 불법 다운로드를 비판하는 부분은 조금 의아한데, 이건 음원 불법 다운로드 문제와 게임의 불법 다운로드 문제가 어떤 과정을 통해 크게 신경쓰이게 되지 않았는지의 역사를 묵격한 2025년이니까 할 수 있는 이야기겠지요. 이 책에서 인터넷과 디지털 기술이 죄다 속임수의 도구로 묘사되는 것을 보면, 그다지 이런 부분에서는 조금 옛날 책처럼 느껴집니다.
물론 2025년에 이 책을 쓴다면 디지털 사기에 대해서도 쓸 말이 많겠지요. ChatGPT가 교육에 끼친 영향이라거나, 어떤 게임회사들이 게임 광고를 어떻게 굴리는지 같은 것들 말이지요. 개인적으로 이런 복제가능한 문화상품(음악, 게임, 도서, 만화)의 소비 윤리에 관한 것은 따로 한 권의 책으로 정리할 정도의 내용이 되지 않을까 합니다.
이미 원서가 출간된 뒤 20년이 지난 뒤 읽는 책이지만, 이 책이 짚고 있는 문제는 대부분 오늘날 더 심각해지지 않았나 하는 생각입니다. 한국이 겪고 있는 문제들도 보이지요. 이 책의 문제 제기에 동의합니다. 문제의 원인에도 대강 동의합니다. 하지만 이 책이 제시하는 해결책은 과연 우리가 할 수 있는 일일까요? 우리가 소비하기를 멈출 수 있을까요? 우리가 자본의 월권을 효과적으로 견제할 수 있는 제도를, 월권한 자본의 견제를 극복하고 실행할 수 있을까요? 전망은 어두워 보입니다. 어쩌면 우리는 이 문제를 해결하지 못한 채, 새로운 사회 변혁에 휩쓸려 가버릴지도 모르겠다는 생각마저도 하게 됩니다.

この国の国会議員の給料は全然高くないと思う。
よく言われることだけど、日本の場合、給料ではなくて「歳費」だから、経費がしっかり税金で賄われてる他国と比較すると、恥ずかしいほど低い。
友達が公設秘書やってるけど、真面目にやってる議員さんの実質手取り給料なんて、笑っちゃうほど低いよ。で、カネも人も全然足りなくて、政党助成金や政党支部本部や企業献金に頼ることになって、自民党と統一教会の関係みたいに、タダで人を出してくれる組織にも頼ることになって、と、これ以上「歳費」を削減しても何も良いことはないと思う。
議員立法だって、優秀なブレーン雇えないから、官僚や怪しい自称シンクタンクや利益団体やロビイストに頼ることになって、市民のためではなく、そういう利害対立する連中の言いなりになっちゃうし。
問題は金額じゃなくてどんぶり勘定にあると思うから、全部領収書出させて、きっちり税金で払うようにして、企業献金や大口献金も禁止して、その代わり全体費用は数倍に増額して、選挙や金策じゃなくて議員としての仕事に集中できるようにすべきだと思ってる。
人間関係リセット癖が治ったかなと思ったけどリセット対象が無くなっただけだった
