I'm not sure when it happened, exactly, but at some point in the X11/Wayland/DE for everybody instead of WMs, Linux fucked up the "select copies, middle mouse button pastes". tmux is particularly irritating, since it works there, but only for itself, unless you disable mouse support, then you lose mouse wheel scrolling. :/ But browsers also don't seem to be honoring this consistently, either.
