I’m sure it’s a very deliberate choice by Google to not count my use of the IMAP interface to gmail as use of my account, allowing them to periodically force me to log in to the account on a browser in order to prevent said account from being marked “inactive”. Of course it’s my own fault for using the stupid thing in the first place.
