  1. Wir privatisieren hoheitliche und sicherheitskritische Aufgaben.
  2. Oh, Scheiße.

True story: I once spent an afternoon scrolling through someone's Facebook account to find out when he had acquired each of his cats because he had named successive releases of a software package he maintained after the damn things in the order in which they joined his family and I needed to know whether Pickles came before Chocolate or vice versa.

Any chemistry nerds out there? I'm trying to experiment with seed scarification using normal 20% acetic acid as a substitute for the more advanced method using concentrated sulphuric acid. Is it possible to calculate how much longer I would need to soak the seed if I knew the concentration and time of sulphuric acid used?

Given my natural aversion to *usted* in Spanish and *vous* in French, I'm starting to think that out of consistency I should adopt the Quaker *thou* in English.

Unfortunately it's a tough bind because the Quakers originally adopted it out of a democratizing instinct — *thou* was the familiar second person and *you* the formal — but in the modern era it sounds archaic, making it sound MORE formal than *you*.

Also it's a very weird thinking to do.

This is a pretty interesting article about Quaker use of *thee* and *thou*: friendsjournal.org/2007098/

I knew about the general phenomenon and the justification, but I didn't realize that it had come full circle with some Quakers using thee as an informal register 😅

Also a culture war with proxy battles fought over pronouns sounds familiar 😂

The Apple Passwords app has the most infuriating bug, where the autofill dropdown for username / password is sorted in a different order than the one for 2FA/TOTP.

I don't understand how this slipped through. This is such a noticeable paper cut if you have two accounts for any website!!
