Good morning Fediverse. It's another "wouldn't it be nice if actors worked?" kind of day.

Anyway, let's take a look at how Mastodon ActivityPub makes Group Actors less useful. First for my purposes, a Group Actor is something simple (push only):

  • It has a list of members that corresponds to their followers = following list. If someone follows the Group actor, the Group actor follows them back. If someone unfollows the Group actor, the Group actor unfollows them back.
  • If a follower addresses something to the Group actor, the Group actor announces it.

So what's the problem? Well if you are using Mastodon and its way of addressing, you cannot create a post addressed to the Group actor and not addressed to your followers.

So if for example you want to post in the embarrassing group: CowTippingBrags, you will also share the post with all your followers. That's BAD! That's WRONG! That's MORTIFYING!

Finally, I have no idea how easy this is to fix in Mastodon (or other projects). It should be trivial, but ... y'all know software. Same goes for replying to a post addressed to the group: Don't add the followers collection.

Seit einer Woche unterhalten sich verschiedene Verantwortliche darüber, ob wir das nicht billiger kaufen könnten, welche Möglichkeiten es gibt.

Währenddessen bezahlen wir Tag für Tag 40 Taler an Jeff Bezos und Verwandte.

The History of Time: A Very Short Introduction by Leofranc Holford-Strevens, 2005

Why do we measure time in the way that we do? Why is a week seven days long? At what point did minutes and seconds come into being? Why are some calendars lunar and some solar? The organisation of time into hours, days, months and years seems immutable and universal, but is actually far more artificial than most people realise.



The French Revolution resulted in a restructuring of the French calendar, and the Soviet Union experimented with five and then six-day weeks. Leofranc Holford-Strevens explores these questions using a range of fascinating examples from Ancient Rome and Julius Caesar's imposition of the Leap Year, to the 1920s' project for a fixed Easter.

진짜 중요한 타래 써주셔서 정말 감사합니다. 실제로 이런식으로 디씨일베 문화가 한국 인터넷 주류 문화로 자리잡게 되었고, 그런식으로 트럼프가 공화당 지지자들을 먹었고, 이런식으로 모든것이 구독 정액제화가 되고, 이런식으로 한국 언론도 극우 확성기가 되었고, 이런식으로 파시스트와 나치들이 다시 기어올라왔죠… 이미 목격하고 있는 현실인데 다들 좀 더 경각심을 가졌으면 좋겠어요

내가 걱정되는게 이 지점인데, 결국 언젠가는 이 불일치와 모순이 "계엄은 정당하다고 하고 탄핵에 반대했지만 본선을 통과함"의 형태로 합일되면서 민주주의에 재앙이 찾아올 것이기 때문이다.. 처음에는 사람들이 "헐 어떻게 그런말을/그런짓을" 하다가도 계속 꾸준히 하다 보면 무뎌지고 주장 자체도 정교한 외피를 써서 가공되면서(ex/ 광주 학살은 잘못된건 맞는데 그걸로 평생 혜택 받겠다는건 좀 그렇지 않아?) 주류의견에 편입될 것이기 때문에. [contains quote post or other embedded content]
