One idea that I may adopt from Bluesky's moderation infrastructure is the ability to set a validity date, so like "this recommendation is valid until this date", and then a retraction is automatically issued (though the server doesn't currently include any scheduling capabilities)

But I like that idea for temporary actions.

In your tech company with multiple Python projects and microservices, is there a dedicated team in charge of keeping your Python updated and upgraded across all the different repositories? Is it a concerted effort? Is it just done individually by the engineers who own the repo? Or do you contract it to a consulting company? 🤔

This is an old blog post of mine, but I still really appreciate this subtle feature of Rust: one of the ways it supports robust thread-safe concurrent code is by _not making everything thread-safe._ It's odd that this property is so rare in languages. Just like how clear boundaries are critical in relationships, being able to designate which parts of your program _can't_ be shared across threads is critical for ensuring that the shared parts are correct.

I discovered this cocktail, the Corpus Christi Coherence Nuker, in the papers of my great-grandfather, John Mastodon III.

Half-fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Into this pour the juice of 2 pears. Add 5 measures of metaxa, 5 measures of Canadian whisky and 3 measures of gin. Top up with Pepsi Cola. Shake frantically for 8 minutes, then strain into a dirty mug. Slàinte mhath!
