If you are wondering if it is possible to use Microsoft fonts in writing documents on Linux, then: yes, you can! I have seen lots of people (including my friends) refuse to switch to Linux because they have concern about the absence of Microsoft fonts on Linux. They don't know that installing them is very easy. If you need Microsoft fonts, it's only a one line command on terminal to install.
Linux already contain fonts that mimic Microsoft fonts, which it uses when opening a document with Microsoft fonts if you don't have them installed on your system.
