Noticing someone with a double-barrelled last name and long first name.

Made me remember a person I met with a triple hyphenated last name! Must've been tough to wield day-to-day!

A

For your regular every-day name, eg introducing yourself (not your full legal name) how many syllables does it take to say it?

You might think it's not a priority with all the doom happening around.

But the erosion of privacy rights is directly linked to the erosion of human rights, and the loss of democracy.

Privacy makes it safe for you to discuss, to organize, to resist, and to be your true self. This is exactly why fascists and authoritarians are attacking it.

If we lose privacy, we lose everything else. We have to defend it with all we've got.

Privacy rights are a priority.

Russia has been officially equated with North Korea

The EU will include Russia in the list of countries with a high risk of money laundering and terrorist financing. This is reported by Politico. This step will tighten control over all transactions and force banks to introduce additional measures to reduce risks. This will further restrict the access of Russian companies to financial services. The blacklist already includes North Korea, Iran, Afghanistan, Venezuela and other "respected partners".

Fail, fail and fail again...

The UK Information Commissioner's Office has issued a weak reprimand to the Post Office for publishing the identities of Horizon’s victims.

The ICO's failure to enforce data protection law adds insult to injury for the victims of this scandal.

There is an unauthenticated remote code execution vulnerability in React Server Components.

Even if your app does not implement any React Server Function endpoints it may still be vulnerable if your app supports React Server Components.

If your app’s React code does not use a server, your app is not affected by this vulnerability.

CVE-2025-55182

Mastodon server not impacted btw.

It has been my habit since exiting Twitter to no longer share anything personal publicly but this conversation that folx are having regarding children who go “no contact” has been triggering.

I haven’t spoken to my mom since August 1, 2023 because maintaining that relationship was a burden that I could no longer bear and I grieve that loss everyday. I miss the relationship I wish we could’ve had.

While I’ve seen a number of reports emphasizing record spending on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, there’s an interesting detail. Salesforce reports their data shows prices are up 7% year over year while orders are down 1%.

So the record spending is due to inflation not increased buying.
