I fear this joke will only be funny for like one year or two, and then nobody will get it anymore because it will truly be considered crazy stuff to write, draw, code, or read just using your own brain 🫠

I hate this AI-dystopian timeline :blobcat_thisisfine:

@Em0nM4stodonEm :official_verified: children are saying "that's AI" to fake or nonsensical things. If your product is synonymous with bullshit, it's probably not going to last very long.
I'm personally more concerned about the infrastructure we're putting in place for it. With so much higher education focusing on that, I don't think it will go away any time soon. I learned about "underwater datacenters" yesterday, and it honestly just makes me so angry.

RE: fosstodon.org/@alextheuxguy/11

Ohmygoodness, this is such a delightful article from @alextheuxguyAlex White, full of so much Palm Pilot nostalgia.

I remember my father used his for years, and I even purchased a copy of the "Palm OS Programming Bible" in the hopes that I'd be able to write software for it when he bequeathed it to me (it died before I had a chance).

The personal digital assistant for a more civilized age.

By shifting to 98% renewable energy "The total cost of electricity production [in Uruguay] decreased by roughly half ... About 50,000 new jobs were created in construction, engineering, and operations, roughly 3% of the labor force … Its economy has been growing at 6% to 8% annually, and its poverty rate has fallen from 30% to 8%."

Rokland just kicked off their new Makers Market, a venture showcasing members of the Meshtastic community and the high-quality gear they design.

Their first featured maker is Matt Donley of ATLAVOX — showcasing the ATLAVOX Beacon, a Meshtastic-compatible solar node built on RAKwireless WisBlock hardware.
Each device is crafted and tested in the USA, pairing thoughtful design with durable construction.

Life in the question: Any good free-cycling / donation services in the UK that don't require facebook?

I've got some linens, some clothes, a few older electronics / lights and some bulky bits of furniture I don't need after my move.

I will use freecycle.org unless anyone has other suggestions. NextDoor is like a shocking racist nightmare zone.

v1.111 is live today! We've upgraded our Age Assurance system to comply with upcoming laws in Australia and other regions, and to restore access to people over 18 in Mississippi. Plus, we fixed some bugs and laid the groundwork for improved "who to follow" suggestions in the near future.

Excited to share that I've joined @BitRigAppBitrig!

I love helping people learn to code. As a co-creator of SwiftUI, I also love building native apps for Apple's platforms. At Bitrig, we're developing new tools for making native app development more accessible and fun for everyone.

I first got hooked on coding as a kid, making games on my TI-83 calculator. It felt magical to build apps with just the computer in my pocket. Using Bitrig to build native apps right on my phone rekindles that same playfulness, but with so much more versatility, and it's only just the beginning 🙂

I'm also joining an incredibly talented team, including some of the same people I worked with on SwiftUI. And we're hiring! Check out our jobs page to learn more.

Have you ever...

you know, just sometimes...

as the nights grow longer and the sky is clear on a cold evening when it seems like you can see more stars than ever...

doesn't it just make you think about stuff?

Yeah, me neither.

an artists depiction of the Milky Way viewed from far away.
There is a text box with a line and arrow pointing to a spot in the galaxy. The text reads:

You are here, crying in the shower, questioning your life choices, anxiously anticipating what comes next and wondering if there is any possibility you still have a shot at the really cute trans femme Latine enby girl who has been invading your dreams as of late.
