路透社周一（15日）報道，緬甸前國務資政昂山素姬的兒子阿里斯（Kim Aris）表示，由於母親長期被拘留、外界幾乎無法取得任何可靠資訊，加上健康狀況惡化，他憂慮自己甚至可能無法得知母親是否已經離世。
阿里斯近日在東京接受專訪時指出，自2021年緬甸發生軍事政變、推翻昂山素姬領導的民選政府後，他已多年未有收到母親的任何直接消息。現年80歲的昂山素姬，其健康狀況僅能透過零星轉述得知，包括心臟、骨骼及牙齦等問題，但實際情況如何，外界無從確認。
阿里斯形容，母親已超過兩年無人能與她接觸，不但無法會見家人，甚至未能與其法律團隊聯絡。他直言，在資訊完全被切斷的情況下，最令人不安的是「就我所知，她可能已經去世，但我卻無法確認」。
對於緬甸軍政府計劃於12月28日舉行選舉，阿里斯批評有關安排屬「虛假選舉」，但同時認為或可成為軍方考慮釋放或改為軟禁母親的潛在契機。他表示，若軍政府領袖敏昂萊希望藉昂山素姬的象徵地位安撫民眾，「至少可能是一個轉機」。
