@Heliograph @leonieke hi! I would recommend looking into self-hosting via GoToSocial... it's really powerful and features-rich.

I have my account on a basic Hetzner plan, installed via YunoHost. I keep hearing that self-hosting Mastodon is very resource intensive and not worth the hassle... whereas GoToSocial is lightweight and easy to maintain.

There is an independent tool available called SLURP that even allows you to move your posts from Mastodon to GoToSocial. @box464Jeff Sikes and @joelJoel Carnat ♑ 🤪 have written superb blog posts about this process (sorry I don't have links ready).

Good luck!

P.S.: this is sent to you from my own GoToSocial account where I set character limit to 5000... aka 10x the limit of Mastodon. It's a wonderful wonderful feeling not having to break posts into multiple threads 🤗

Good morning 🌤️

Despite everything I’m going through,
sometimes I find myself happy with the simplest things.
You might laugh… you might be surprised 😄
but for me, this is a kind of strength.

Maybe I’m trying to move forward,
maybe I’m making myself stronger,
or maybe I’m just holding on to life as it is.

This feeling doesn’t come all the time,
but when it does… it helps me keep going 🤍

And honestly,
your presence, your words, your support
give me strength and hope,
right after God 🌿

그럭저럭 머리속에서 짚어보면서 한 소리보다 그냥 평소 안 하던 식으로 개뻘소리 긁어놓은게 왕창 임프레션이 나올때 약간 착잡함;;; 심지어 써놓고 나중에 약간 암묵적으로 톡식한 부분도 있는데 괜찮은걸까 했는데;

Today's is reveal.js, my tool of choice for writing presentations.

I write the content in Markdown, and... that's it. Thanks to CSS, tada, I have a perfectly-formatted, ready-to-go, presentation.

It has speaker view, allows for easy PDF exports, and, because it is html, css, and JavaScript, there is no vendor lock-in *and* you can upload the presentation to your website, so that people can click/swipe through it.

I have used reveal.js for a few years now, and I absolutely love it. I can't imagine faffing around with slides these days.

Imagine that your language had a pangram—a sentence that uses every letter of the alphabet—without duplicates. Imagine that this pangram was also a poem, and that it's widely known.

For the sake of illustration, pretend that the English pangram

veldt jynx grimps waqf zho buck

is this poem [there are five red spelling wiggles in that line on my browser].

Imagine that this poem is so well known that even in far-flung cultural contexts, "v" signifies firstness, "e" signifies secondness, "l" signifies thirdness, and so on.

You start to find that the letters v, e, l, d, t, j, y get used to mark ordered lists. The names of the notes of the musical scale are given these letters, in this order. Your railway's tickets are labelled V, E, L, for first-, second-, and third-class.
