FYI: 20 U.S.C §20i(a) (https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/20/76i): "The Board shall construct for the Smithsonian Institution, with funds raised by voluntary contributions, a building to be designated as the John F. Kennedy Center". In other words, the name is set by statute. And I reviewed all of the other relevant sections of the statute—none give the Board the power to change the name. In fact, there are other provisions that make sure that this stays as a memorial to Kennedy, e.g., §76j(b)(1): "no additional memorials or plaques in the nature of memorials shall be designated or installed in the public areas of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts."

Much though I love this sentiment, if they were really universally despised their recruitment campaigns wouldn't be working so well.
While I wish no one wanted to do what they do, there is a not insignificant number of people who DO want to do what they do. It's sickening, but it's also counterproductive to pretend that everyone is opposed to what's going on.
