What is Hackers' Pub?

Hackers' Pub is a place for software engineers to share their knowledge and experience with each other. It's also an ActivityPub-enabled social network, so you can follow your favorite hackers in the fediverse and get their latest posts in your feed.

RE: mastodon.social/@dansup/115745

Loops.video is the flagship server of Loops, but we need to consider the ethical aspects of this so we don't become too big that it undermines the core tenets of the project

I am working on the plans for full account migration between Loops servers to help solve this issue long term

Loops is a very promising project, and while its understandable that the flagship server is growing so fast, this is not sustainable and we need to start focusing on the long term.

Stay tuned, I'll share more soon

Who was Sharif Osman Hadi?

Hadi was a leading figure in last year’s student-led uprising that ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, helping to launch street protests and campaigns denouncing her rule.

From a Muslim family in the southern village of Nalchiti, Hadi was a spokesperson for the Inquilab Mancha, or Platform for Revolution movement, which describes itself as a “revolutionary cultural platform inspired by the spirit of uprising”.

really, the World Wide Web is still such an incredible thing, with a scale and ubiquity that is so completely overwhelming, that a technology completely derived from it, capable of giving even a vague and lossy impression of its scope and power, is now itself regarded as a superhuman and transformative resource. but the material was already there!!

I'm a bit worried that Loops.video may become too centralized and lead to a situation where new instances are seen as empty by users, further incentivizing Loops.video growth.

How do we solve this?

With @activityrank, an open source service that helps solve the "cold-start" problem in a federated manor to help provide some initial content to new and growing Loops servers.

Let me know what you think, feedback wanted!

We need to get this right before it's too late ❤️

Uruguay did what most nations still call impossible:
it built a power grid that runs almost entirely on renewables
—at half the cost of fossil fuels.
The physicist who led that transformation says the same playbook could work anywhere
—if governments have the courage to change the rules.
For Ramon Méndez Galain,
the energy transition isn’t just about climate
—it’s about economics.
Uruguay’s shift to renewables, he argues,
demonstrated that clean energy can be cheaper, more stable, and create more jobs than fossil fuels.
Once the country adjusted the playing field that had long favored oil and gas,
renewables outperformed on every front:
halving costs,
creating 50,000 jobs,
and protecting the economy from price shocks.

@cdarwinChuck Darwin

"The question is not whether renewables can work. The question is whether governments have the courage to change the rules. If they do, the rest is straightforward.”

Méndez Galain

The world overlooks Uruguay’s example at its own risk. In fact, renewables are ready, the playbook is in place, and the advantages are tangible. The only missing ingredient is the political will, which is often clouded by self-interest and money.

Kollege: "Die Konkurrenz hat jetzt KI in ihrer Software. Sollen wir das auch machen?"
"Welches Problem soll die KI denn lösen?"
"Keine Ahnung."
"Na dann lass uns doch lieber Blockchain einbauen."
"Du nimmst mich nicht ernst."
"Wer hat denn damit angefangen?"

I'm making an effort to respond and make myself available to press for interviews.

I know I should have done this sooner, and I apologize, it's nerve racking to go on the record and represent yourself.

This year I've done a few interviews and even gave a keynote conference talk, so I am making progress and will do better.

美 트럼프 행정부, 韓 규제 발끈 n.news.naver.com/article/092/...
