Christmas is approaching. There are some Christians in Gaza. Their churches, among the oldest in the world, were reduced to rubble by the army. Palestinian Christians are the most ancient community of Christians in the world. They too suffer a lot in this war. They mostly live in the Zaytun neighbourhood of Gaza. They say “Nushkur Allah” instead of “Alhamd Lilah”.

This morning my wife and I got up, lit some candles + plugged in some Christmas lights, made some tea, and just sat in the candle light for awhile. It was a rather lovely way to start the day.

Almost a year to the date of my last *new* app release, SingTheSong is now out on visionOS! I'm still building apps for visionOS because it's FUN. This one listens to the music playing in your environment and displays real-time lyrics. Made this one for my fellow vinyl enthusiasts.

When men don’t have to worry about their children, their health, their homes, or much of anything domestic at all, they are free to pursue their careers, their dreams, their own lives. They do so directly at the expense of women. Men are stealing women’s dreams to fuel their own. And that’s exactly what patriarchy has always been about.

In societies where all or most forms of official discrimination are banned, labor inequality is the ideal way to reinforce women’s servitude while pretending they have equal opportunities. “See? Nothing is stopping them but they’re struggling! Women are just naturally submissive/inferior/oriented toward having children” is the rallying cry of this discriminatory framework.

Meanwhile, men get to start miles ahead of women and pretend that's because women arbitrarily make up silly busywork for themselves.

Friendly reminder, a reverse chronological feed like Mastodon and Pixelfed use are technically algorithms.

While I understand that many people come to the fediverse because they have had bad experiences with algorithms, it's important to remember that not all algorithms are the same!

You can have ethical algorithms that respect peoples permissions while also using data you collect responsibly.

Loops is proof of this 👏
