I would love to understand why seemingly all LACNIC members use gmail/hotmail email addresses as their whois contacts. No other region seems to be this concentrated with "personal" email providers for what are almost always businesses, it seems to also extend all the way down to the actual company filings as well!

Corporate emails don't really seem to be that much of a thing in the LATAM region

Wind storms last week set in motion disaster recovery plans at NIST, and almost took out a primary time reference: youtube.com/watch?v=ZRB7pjRVVkI

I'm sure the folks at NIST running the Internet's time clocks were feeling the pressure, and they handled it well.

There's a lot of focus on how the dripping antisemitism on the right has created a useful rupture in various parts of Trump's support, and that's true. But I really worry that EVEN those on the less hateful side of that split are ignoring how dangerous some of these terrorists are.

AI / LLM plague

I hate that one of the things I need to do with new comments on my techblog is squint at them and ask myself "is this extruded AI slop blather that's intended to attract visitors to the commentator's site that's also mostly extruded AI slop blather, or is this someone who is just not good at writing and maybe not using English as their first language?"

So hypothetically, (I'm NOT suggesting this literally, this is for discussion purposes only!)

Prompt:
if users ONLY had Public/Followers only/Private as 'base' post types, how would they be negatively impacted? *Specifically* what types of posts would fall through the cracks? How limited would Followers only really be?

Goal:
There obviously would be negative impact. By discussing how, we can brainstorm BETTER ways of giving them this functionality

Space explorers should be mandated to bring their debris and rubbish home. Starlink, NASA, Orbital etc should not be permitted to continue filling space with rubbish, dead satellites or other stuff. The lesson on this planet is already clear - we make too much disposable stuff and we are polluting at an indefensible rate.

Just released for clusters!

Ever wanted to know which CPU type is the maximum supported in your Proxmox cluster, when not being able to set type host? ProxCLMC evaluates all nodes within the cluster and checks for the maxmimum supported type to make sure live migrations can perform without any issues. ProxCLMC is fully opensource and entirely written in Rust.

More in my blog post:

https://gyptazy.com/proxclmc-identifying-the-maximum-safe-cpu-model-for-live-migration-in-proxmox-clusters/

ProxCLMC Logo: ProxCLMC is a lightweight tool to determine the maximum CPU compatibility level that is supported across all nodes in a Proxmox VE cluster.

RE: ec.social-network.europa.eu/@E

Oh we have the same wish @EUCommissionEuropean Commission

I think it'd be a powerful move if you deleted your X account (a platform that has become a vector of misinformation and a cesspool of hate).

By the way, your homepage states: "Follow us on" followed by the icons of Facebook, X and LinkedIn. I always found it odd, since those are algorithm-based U.S. companies and you are the EUROPEAN Commission. How about putting your Mastodon icon on your homepage?

Thank you for your consideration
