There is variation in everyone, but society / context / environment makes that variation more burdensome for some than for others. “Neurotypical” is not a thing that anyone •is•, but rather an archetype that human systems are designed for / evolved around.

When we recognize that “neurotypical” is an archetype and not an actual person, we can reach the same insight that the Air Force reached: you don’t build things to some single optimal set of “normal” dimensions; you make things more adjustable, flexible, accommodating of variation.

Called a solstice, many cultures mark yesterday's date as a change of seasons -- from autumn to winter in Earth's Northern Hemisphere and from spring to summer in Earth's Southern Hemisphere. The featured image was taken just before the longest night of the 2025 northern year at Stonehenge in United Kingdom.

There, through stones precisely placed 4,500 years ago, a 4.5 billion year old large glowing orb is seen setting. Even given the precession of the Earth's rotational axis over the millennia, the Sun continues to set over Stonehenge in an astronomically significant way.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations () has condemned an Israeli attack on a wedding celebration in Gaza that killed at least six people, including a five-month-old.

“Bombing a wedding celebration is an act of brutality,” CAIR said, adding that the attack showed “there can be no genuine ceasefire while the Israeli occupation continues to murder people across Gaza with impunity.”

Israel’s defence industry is making record profits as its weapons manufacturers are marketing their products as “battle-tested”, using images of strikes on Gaza as proof of their purported success.

In 2024, Israel sold weapons worth $15bn, a 13 percent increase compared with the year before. Europe was the top buyer of Israeli weapons, followed by India.

A lot of conversations about neurodivergence take the form of the first image below. I’m arguing to adopt the framing of the second image instead (except 100- or 1000-dimensional instead of 2-dimensional).

We’ve identified a few clusterings in a space of extraordinary and beautiful variation, and given those clusterings names. How useful those names are! How little they capture, even so! How much variation remains unnamed! How much variation must exist within every human being!
