Well, 2025 is coming to an end, so I would like to give programmers a bit of advice for 2026.

- The AI bubble is bursting. Quit coding with AI and get your skill back and actually learn and understand what you're doing instead of half-assing your work. (The amount of extremely poorly "written" AI generated code by first time programmers that I've seen this year is actually insane. Let's hope that 2026 will be less of that. I have hope y'all.)

- Stop saying your code is "good enough"; try perfectionism instead! Think about why your code is the way it is and if you can do it better, and then apply it retroactively in your older code as well.

- Consider contributing more to open source projects; find something in a library/program that you don't like? Fix it yourself and submit it as a PR! (Take your time to do it right - seriously, nobody's rushing you on this.) Additionally, file a well documented issue and ask how you can help to fix it. (Optionally, open source projects are underfunded - consider donating to projects you rely on.)

- Being versatile in multiple programming languages and subject domains is *extremely* valuable. See also the above point. Try new things, read documentation, read source code, learn a thing or two.

You should take a look at @dotmeow.meow ∙ see ya around ^-^' project. They want to have their own generic Top-Level Domain(gTLD) - the thing in website names at the end like .com or .org and use the profits from that to reinvest into gay stuff.

It looks like a very interesting project, and new gTLDs don't come around often (last time was around 2013).

Personally I've already secured myself a voucher for a domain name :3

2025年最後の爪切り

I want to use the last day of the year to thank the community here on Mastodon.

Every day, I learn things here that are worth learning. The discussions are, by Internet standards, very polite and focused on the issues.

But most importantly, I see people here having a voice that they do not have in traditional media or in algorithm-driven social media.

That makes Mastodon extremely valuable, and we should all strive to preserve that.

The year 2025 has been a tough one, and I have little optimism that 2026 will be easier. We will likely see a further rise in authoritarianism, fascism, and racism.

To stem the tide, we must work together. My wish for the coming year is that we continue to see others fighting the same fight as allies, even if they have different priorities for where they invest their energy.

But please take care of yourselves. Do not feel guilty about time spent on self-maintenance. Keep this in mind: You can only help others if you are first in a position to do so.
