I just saw this image a couple of times on another site and it made me smile.

Alt text: A magnet with an image of a horse pulling an old-timey four-wheeled carriage, with reins in the hand of a man wearing a hat and sitting on the front carriage seat. Above the image are the words "Please be patient with me", and below it are the words "I'm from the 1900s".

AISlop has ruined pet videos for me.

The one of the parrot at night asking Alexa to play party music.
The one of the cat jumping into the snow after birds.

They seem cute and funny until I get to the end and realise they're AI. And then I just feel like I've been scammed.

It feels more deceptive than a "based on true life" movie. Though I don't know why.

At any rate, no more clicking on pet videos.

Perhaps this is how YouTube dies. Perhaps that's for the best.

Using AI in court? Yikes. 😬

"In one notable case, a Toronto lawyer is facing a criminal contempt of court proceeding after including cases invented by ChatGPT in her submissions earlier this year, then denying it when questioned by the presiding judge. In a letter to the court months later, the lawyer said she misrepresented what happened out of "fear of the potential consequences & sheer embarrassment."" cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/inc

RE: toot.cafe/@baldur/115745770152

As a consequence of the situation I described in this blog post (most of the existing blogs in my feed reader turning to either "AI" boosterism, becoming outright bad writing, ignorant, or all of the above) I'm slowly going through my feed reader and unsubscribing from hundreds of blogs.

This is delayed by the fact that NetNewsWire has very quickly become incredibly buggy. Unsubscribing is incredibly laggy and often removes the WRONG feed for some reason.

9 days after Inauguration Day, 404 Media wrote about how this declassified World War II-era government guide to sabotaging fascism became one of the most popular open source books on the internet.

One of our top stories this year. Happie holidays <3 404media.co/declassified-cia-g

Please remember: when an officer stops somebody based on racial profiling to challenge their immigration status, the correct and proper term for that is a “Kavanaugh stop.”

Dystopian Future
