The upcoming edition of Art Meets Radical Openness is titled “Becoming Unreadable.” It explore ways of the toxic dimensions of contemporary hypervisibility. By this, we refer to the current logic of platform-mediated social and political discourse, to the global-scale and appropriation feeding the and strengthening new and old colonial threads.

The call for participation is open

If I remember correctly, old Twitter, back when it had actual trust & safety people, had a process for archiving old administration accounts into a different account name before giving the incoming admin the name.

politics

"Funny" how conservatives want us to be afraid of organic social change (and openness) but at the same time demand that we embrace social disruption from above ("digital transformation" and "AI") with alacrity

and their whole (surface) politics is premised on "protecting" us 100% from the former even when we neither want or need to be protected, and -1000% from the latter

and this double standard is just met with shrugging

New post: What do Scooby-Doo, Marvel's Sam "the Falcon" Wilson, and Sabrina the Teenage Witch's boyfriend Harvey Kinkle have in common? They all should've entered public domain today under their original copyright terms, but didn't, thanks to retroactive extensions.

2025 was a year of radical change for me. Despite a UCTD flare up, I lost 50 lbs and took the vital step of cutting ties with toxic family to protect my mental health. Most importantly, I finally came out openly as Queer. I am omnisexual, and living that truth has been a major part of my journey this year.

I also finally deGoogled. It was a hard but cathartic experience. I deleted my accounts with Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Discord, Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit, moving my digital life to privacy-respecting, left-leaning services. Embracing FOSS, Debian, Docker, and Proxmox has been an incredible learning journey.

Moving to the Fediverse has been life-changing. For an introvert, finding a home here and posting regularly has been huge!

For 2026, I’m leaning toward the analog. I want to solidify my journaling habit, read more, and start walking in the beautiful park near our new home. I am even hoping to pick up a 35mm film camera.

Thank you to everyone I have interacted with here for giving me such a great outlet. I look forward to more conversations in the coming year.

Happy New Year and stay safe!

Was dann geschieht, lässt sich leicht vorstellen.

me: hey binja what's this code doing
binja: it's a uint9_t. it's fetching a uint9_t from memory.
me: uint9_t?
binja: yup, uint9_t. or u9, if you'd prefer the Rusty syntax.
me: i don't think x86 has a concept of a 9-bit wide load.
binja: what do you mean? it's clearly a uint9_t.

Unless if you’re really in the know about nascent platforms, you probably didn’t know what Mastodon was until Elon Musk bought Twitter and renamed it X. In the initial aftermath of the acquisition, as users fretted over what direction Twitter would take, millions of users hopped over to Mastodon, a fellow microblogging site. Just a fair warning. Keep your politics off my page, and I'll keep it off yours. I am not Alphabet Soup Gang, Transgender, Moslem, nor liberal friendly if you come pushing your views and agenda on my page. I am in NO WAY politically correct, nor do I give a rats ass about your opinion concerning my politics. Your opinion means absolutely ZILCH to me and you can kiss my ass. Just remember, I didn't ask your unwarranted opinion. Be forewarned, I will block you. Play nice, and I'll play nice.

@xameerHoldMyType I think the list furthers
incorporating seccomp for process isolation on capable GNU/Linux systems, while FreeBSD has its own sandboxing mechanism called Capsicum
> Process Isolation (OS-level) separates processes' memory/resources for stability; chroot (filesystem-level) changes a process's root directory for simple file access restriction (weak security); while Sandboxing (application/security-focused) uses stronger kernel features (containers, VMs, or specialized tools)

@xameerHoldMyType contd go without user namespace isolation to build app in Rootless container like you need dynamically alloc builder uids and with it as root ( rarely with it) , without sandbox , app
i ll do that on , how ll you do it onother
do you every use `sysctl -w kernel.unprivileged_userns_clone=1`?

Wake up Dead Man

Wake up Dead Man good. Especially if you’ve read all the books referenced. I was 4/5, but I knew the relevant bits of Dixon Carr, and I did figure out the locked room 🥰

Oh and Benoit Blanc can get IT.

is it somehow an issue to have two devices on my network have the same hostname? it seems to work but i only had it that way for like two minutes so i'm not sure if it actually breaks something meaningful
