Practical Collision Attack Against Long Key IDs in PGP

In response to the GPG.Fail attacks, a Hacker News user made this claim about the 64-bit "Long Key IDs" used by OpenPGP and GnuPG, while responding to an answer I gave to someone else's question: OK, to be clear, I am specifically contending that a key fingerprint does not include collisions. My proof is empirical, that no one has come up with an attack on 64 bit PGP key fingerprints.

Starts with a fresh jungle feeling which increasingly fights with something manic and maybe a bit grim. Really raw, goes maybe actually too hard in an interesting way. It's loud and it's hot and it's close.

This is my response to every argument along the lines of "don't fight unless you have good reason to be confident you'll win that specific fight." Don't fold in advance, make the regime beat you. If you lose, so be it. The govt is powerful. But tying up any of its resources weakens it. It adds up.
