@JessTheUnstillJess👾 They’ve ripped away much the IRS funding and fired iirc close to a quarter of its workforce, plus replaced part of their code base with whatever DOGE cooked up, and then yanked around a bunch of tax law into very unclear terms (vibe legislating?) which will have to be legally interpreted. Oh, and drew down the Direct File program. All that on top of how complicated it was just last year. This is very much a deliberate attack on anyone who isn’t wealthy enough to hire it out to an office. Increasing the friction ordinary people experience bogs the system down to reduce inquiry into and prosecution of the rich before they can obliterate what remains of the justice system. You’re experiencing this accurately as an attack on your wellbeing, it’s that hard because they’ve made it that hard.

In international affairs and politics there is only power. If you grew up with some fantasies about law and principles it's because they were supported by a balance of power and you had trouble seeing it. Without a balance none of these things have any relevance.

December 16 I bought a 512Gb SATAIII SSD thinking to myself: "Ok, I probably don't need it right now, but I know it will get only more expensive with all this AI hysteria. I don't know if I'll be able to buy it in the future". $43 is a bit much for a 512Gb if you ask me, but hey, it's manageable.
Today is January 8 and this same SSD now costs $125 in the same shop.
All this is sadly wrong.
Meanwhile I have to figure out which OS should I install on it.

RE: eupolicy.social/@NGICommons/11

Maybe ask them why they haven’t supported our work on the Small Web with a single euro cent all these years.

(It doesn’t matter. The Small Web launches to a wider audience this year regardless. I just had to sell two small family homes in Turkey that I would have inherited to make it happen is all.)

“Why aren’t more people building alternatives?”

🤷‍♂️
