I've been musing about creating a tech co-op for family and friends, basically a GoToSocial and Matrix instance, maybe a couple of other services, all under one domain so we can be social and hang out, but also so I can give them a presence on the fediverse that's a bit more trustworthy and, well, cosy.
It was really gratifying to see

It also made me think about what these things are and represent – offering people I know and care about a way to be online that is open; if a friend leaves the country and is invested in using this co-op, they can move their identity to a server that helps them build community without losing contact with people back home.
