maybe the bitter lesson comes for this too but anecdotally people report better results with adversarial methods so i wonder. there's a particular way of working where you really dig into the causes that isn't well-represented in the industry. maybe the capability is there but it needs more nudging

I remember Apple booting games out of the App Store due to pixelated boobs. I recall it kicking off various apps due to porn. Yet GenAI CSAM and other horrors where those depicted haven’t consented? Oh, that’s just fine, apparently. FFS. It’s not just the cowardice. It’s also the hypocrisy.

I'm looking at the weather app like I have been for a good week already because of all this snow. There's no more snow due and the melt will probably begin on Monday.

It's just occurred to me why I'm sad there might be no more snow. I wanted us to be snowed in, a huge drift against our front door. I wanted a break from the world as it is right now.

Insulate and cut us off, yeees, please. Please?

Since the start of the current winter, the Gaza Strip has faced compounded suffering due to extensive Israeli destruction and the lack of shelter.

More than 50 buildings previously struck by Israeli missiles collapsed under strong winds and heavy rains, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries. Thousands of tents were torn apart by the wind or swallowed by the sea.

Over 1.5 million Palestinians in Gaza live without shelter or basic necessities in extremely crowded areas along the coastline.

The Israeli occupation continues to violate the ceasefire, preventing displaced people from returning to their homes and blocking the entry of relief supplies, debris removal, and reconstruction efforts.

Worked on a little project for @fronteers this week, which helped me ease in to my ‘working holiday’. I want to be more of a self starter and get back more into a learning and organising mindset. I used to be full of initiative, creating a string of online communities, and I want that back :) off to a good start I think! What shall I get up to next week?

to me the interesting question is whether i can pull out of it more than i'm putting in. i don't know if the meta game is worth it yet. but i'm very curious to find out. you need to build some deterministic stuff around non-determinism and vice versa, and getting this balance right seems tricky

It's time to share my visit to the magical place 'Machu Picchu' 🤍

Early in the morning, around 5:30 am, I boarded the bus that brought me (and all the other tourists) up the mountain to the entrance of Machu Picchu. I was so happy that the rain had stopped by the time we arrived. At 6 o'clock, the gate opened and I could enter the sacred place with the first group of visitors. The thick white clouds and fog were still hanging very low and covered the 'lost city of the Incas' entirely. After a while, the clouds and fog revealed the famous view. It was a truly magical moment! 🥰

I can't tell you a lot about the three hour visit. I can not really put it in words. I was just incredibly in awe and so so grateful to be there 💖

Here some facts:
The site was built in the 15th century, during the height of the Inca Empire, and is believed to have been constructed as a royal estate or religious retreat for the Inca emperor Pachacuti.
Machu Picchu was largely forgotten by the outside world until it was rediscovered in 1911 by the American historian and explorer Hiram Bingham, who brought the site to international attention. In 1983, Machu Picchu was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The site holds great spiritual and cultural significance for the Quechua people.

i didn't really fully appreciate how weird it is until getting into the meta game. but i think you really need to get to meta level for the weirdness to hit you. for me it was agents evaluating work of other agents according to criteria i designed with another agent using agent-designed skills
