And this is working, but it's slow progress.

Mastodon in particular has UX problems that will be very hard to overcome that prevent mass adoption, foremost is that actual conversations (aka replies) are unreliable and slow due to the way posts are distributed. Quote post support was a huge first step to remedy this. I hope we'll see more updates on it.

Bluesky got a big chunk of former Twitter users, especially in some niches like for scientists and activists; they have great performance, reliable threading and replies and really amazing featuers like fully custom feeds—but suffer from intransparent moderation and frankly insufferable leadership (still leagues better than Twitter or Facebook though).

(There's more than these, but these are what I use.)

Open question: how do tech folks keep track of interesting events and conferences you might want to attend. Back in Web 2.0, Upcoming was great for this. I know @andybaio resurrected it several years ago, but not sure if it’s currently maintained (it seems to only have a Twitter login option, for example). Is there an Upcoming for the fediverse? Or somewhere else to see what events e.g. @andypiper is going to this year? I.e. a social events app that isn’t Twitter-based (Bluesky would be ok tho).

RE: mastodon.social/@dansup/115871

Yeah, you will be able to use keyboard shortcuts to easily navigate across the admin dashboard.

`user:@autocompletedUsernameHere` for example will autocomplete usernames that will show the user settings.

Easy. Powerful. Gorgeous.

You can have all 3, it just takes time 😅

OK Not that I have anything against but I'm going to install 15.0 onto my again as I do miss ZFS and the extensive selection of apps too. Ok I miss full color emoji in the terminal too you got me. But I do still have OpenBSD running on my Dell Optiplex 3080 Tower so I can keep up with developments as I do still like what it is and what they stand for. I guess I'm just a girl and I like them all. :runbsd: :openbsd: :freebsd:
