Nodejs fixed 8 vulnerabilities:

nodejs.org/en/blog/vulnerabili

There's a bunch of confusing things:
- the announcement is published today at a URL from last month with a link saying "January Security Release is available" linking to itself
- the 'release details' links in the advisory 404 (you want to go to the GitHub releases page instead)
- announcement to nodejs-sec mailing list is only a terse note saying "Security release is now available" with not even a link

Rest in peace, 1990s Scott Adams who gave the world his brilliant satire on dysfunctional organizations. No rest anywhere, 2010s and on Scott Adams who flooded the media with his conspiracy-laden misanthropy.

RE: theforkiverse.com/@pj/11588853

I am quite excited about what is doing and to see how it goes.

It seems to be going very well.

This is exactly what fedi was built for and what can make fedi stronger: an independent instance created and run for a specific community, pulling people in.

If you're as confused as I initially was: The Forkiverse is a fedi instance set up by hosts of two podcasts (Search Engine and Hard Fork), the name references the latter:

Interesting, Mastodon/fediverse as a teaching/learning tool.

"In the second week of the course, students were asked to compare the moderation policies of one mainstream social media site and a Mastodon instance of their choosing, other than our class instance."

Modern HTML features on text-based web browsers

They're easily overlooked between all the Chrome and Safari violence, but there are still text-based web browsers, and people still use them. How do they handle the latest HTML features?

While CSS is the star of the show when it comes to new features, HTML ain’t stale either. If we put the long-awaited styleable selects and Apple’s take

While I think it's good that more mainstream publications do more on the the Search Engine/Hard Fork episode on the is a bit ... well it could have done with a bit more research. And "oh look how yanky it all is but we didn't read the manual to run this service but has an LLM Agent just do something" is cringe at best: You're not reading the manual but you want to run a platform for a few thousand people? That's not cute but shows a lack of care and willingness to take responsibility.

Polestar’s new advertising is truly stunning. They have a clear vision of electric vehicles and who is the true villain. We don't need to conquer Mars. 😉 Choose better | Polestar www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9Hj...

I'm excited to release Just the Browser! It helps you remove AI features, sponsored content, shopping integrations, and other annoyances from desktop web browsers.

This project includes configuration files (group policies), a simple setup script, and guides for manual installation. It supports Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. Everything is open-source on GitHub.

🗑️ I've been working on a read later app over the last few years and it's getting closer to launch.

It archives every page you save so you never lose anything, and renders the original site beautifully. There's also a clean reader mode when you just want the content. Nested tags, auto-tagging, and shortcuts support for the automation nerds.

Sign up to be notified when it launches, I'll also be adding some people to the beta.

Watching them all fall in line to brazenly lie to protect their new secret police/terror squads from accountability for shooting a scared mom in the face 3 times, is a reminder (in case we still needed one) that it’s no where near enough to just replace Trump. It’s the entire immoral & corrupt GOP.

@edasfrÉric D.
Is this based on illegal exploitation of everyone's work? Sure is.
Is it concentrating power and capital in the hands of even fewer people? Sure is.
Is it significantly amplifying environmental harm? Sure is.
Is it reinforcing bias and stereotypes? Sure is.
Is it still an unprofitable industry? Sure is.
Is it still unknown how it will cope with Model Collapse? Sure is.
Is it still unknown how it impacts a project long term? Sure is.
